SPECIAL NOTES
Batteries are not accepted by the Borough's hauler. They can be sold to Liberty Iron (453-6758) or Max Silver and Son (456-4211).  Old tires, with or without rims, are accepted at the landfill for a nominal fee.  Used oil is accepted at the Edinboro BP Center.  Empty paint cans will be accepted by the landfill as long as the can is thoroughly dried. The empty can does not need to be crushed, but should be placed beside the garbage and not in the bag.  Insulin needles should be placed in a container and taped shut. Mark the tape "needles" and put the container in the trash.  De-freoned appliances can be disposed of by calling Burns Appliances (452-6230) or Liberty Iron (453-6758).

LEAF PICK-UP & COMPOSTING
Leaf pick-up in Edinboro will begin in mid to late October as weather conditions warrant. Under the Borough's collection program, leaves are collected at curbside using a leaf vacuum truck purchased through a DEP grant. The vacuum will be in operation until weather conditions turn inclement. Residents are asked to rake their leaves in rows along the curb line. Please do not put leaf piles in the street.

As the vacuum makes its way around town, residents are asked not to rake leaves out to the curb immediately following its passage. The machine will make its complete route before it returns to your street.

All leaves collected are taken to a local site for composting. This compost is then used for landscaping in the parks and recreational sites throughout the Borough.

RECYCLE YOUR CHRISTMAS TREE
Christmas tree pickup and drop-off centers will be advertised for Christmas tree disposal to benefit the Emmaus Soup Kitchen. Donations of $1.00 are being requested. Listen for radio broadcasts throughout the holiday season for information on these centers. The Borough is looking into having a local drop-off center in Edinboro. Look for more information in our December community newsletter.
