Edinboro Recreation

The centerpiece of the Borough's recreational opportunities is the 245 acre Edinboro Lake, with accompanying parks and playgrounds. Included is a guarded beach, two free boat launch ramps with public parking, a fishing pier denoted for persons with disabilities, and a major playground complex at Billings Park. This lakeside park area serves a wide range of persons, which includes summer vacationers, summer residents, permanent residents from Edinboro and surrounding areas, and an ever-changing population of University students.

The lake
is unlimited horsepower rated, allowing for the activity of water skiing and the
use of personal watercraft. Fishing is also a popular pastime, with the
local species inc
luding large and smallmouth bass, muskie, pan fish, and
walleye. A section of trout stream water below the Edinboro dam is
designated fishing for 12 year olds and under, as well as handicapped
individuals. The Borough has public dock spaces available, which can be
rented on a daily, weekly, or annual basis.

In addition to the lakeside parks, the Borough maintains other smaller parks within its limits including two passive use areas: Triangle Park and James Hagerty Park. A new playground complex, designated for younger children, was just completed at Chestnut Park. Robert Thompson Park contains six backstops for basketball, as well as an enclosed court for rollerblade hockey. Woods Memorial, located south of the Borough, contains a lighted softball field with restrooms. Nature's Outlet is a tree filled setting, situated along the lake outlet, allowing for a quiet time and space.

Golfing is a big attraction in the area when weather permits. There are several local golf courses around the Borough. Culbertson Hills is located on Route 6N almost in the heart of downtown Edinboro. Pleasure Golf Course is in the beautiful countryside on Lay Road. Highlander Golf is situated on rolling hills and dales at 5920 Route 6N West. Let's not forget about miniature golf--we have a challenging course at Sunview Miniature Golf at 12270 Route 99 with waterfalls and difficult holes. Come experience the thrill!
A heated community swimming pool is maintained and operated by the local YMCA, offering swimming programs and other health related programs to fill the days during the summer months.
The Borough beach is open from Memorial Day to Labor Day, guarded from noon
